Breeds of hunting dogs?

i live in a fairly large apartment. I hunt, fish, and hike. I would like a medium-sized dog that has good temperament, active, and is known for being a "sportsman dog" and can accompany me. I have allergies but rarely show any reaction to dogs, just cats. What are good breeds?
