Is it hard to start a family as a lawyer?

My mom was telling me of a conversation she had with a man who was upset with his daughter because he put her through law school only to have her get married and have babies. Does this mean that I can't have a family? I'm going to be a freshmen fall 2011 studying English under Prelaw and I'm taking 18 hours so I can hurry up and finish school...but this story is haunting my future...
